Welcome to the Hashport (hereinafter referred to as "hashport") validator documentation! This site covers everything you need to know about setting and managing a hashport Validator Node.

About the hashport Portal

hashport is an enterprise-grade public utility that facilitates the movement of digital assets between distributed networks, extending their functionality in a quick, secure, and cost-effective way. In order to remain platform-neutral, hashport functions without the use of a proprietary token.

The network is built on a robust and performant architecture, secured and operated by a group of industry-leading validator partners from around the world. Validator nodes use the Hedera Consensus Service (HCS) for aggregating authorization signatures and providing traceability for porting operations. hashport has passed a rigorous security audit and follows industry best practices; regularly performing comprehensive network tests to ensure the integrity of the network.

The hashport Portal provides an interoperability-first approach to maximize the potential of Users’ assets by giving them the freedom to go where the opportunity is in a secure, reliable, and highly accessible manner. Although hashport will initially support Hashgraph, Ethereum, and Polygon, we are actively integrating more tokens and networks.

Here are the networks that hashport currently supports:

There is no change to the circulating supply of assets when it crosses the Portal.

Native tokens are locked in the Portal account and projected tokens are minted onto the foreign network for use, whose value is pegged 1:1 with the native token.

For example, HBARs are locked in the Portal and HBAR[eth] tokens are projected onto the Ethereum network. When the HBAR[eth] tokens return to the Portal, they are burned and the HBARs are unlocked on the Hedera network.

What is a hashport Validator?

A hashport Validator is a node that has registered to hashport's validator swarm. Currently, the validator swarm is composed of trusted, industry-leading organizations dedicated to operating and continuously improving the Portal. Validators will be able to authorize Portal transfers (as described above) and accrue fees paid by users.
